U.S. President Joe Biden is entering a crucial week in his presidency as he plays host to the NATO Summit, following a presidential debate performance described by political analysts as “disastrous”.

The NATO summit should be a comfortable setting for the 81-year-old president — strengthening alliances and partnerships has been one of Biden’s signature policies, and his fellow NATO leaders have been generally wary of a return of a Donald Trump administration, which had previously been dismissive of the transatlantic alliance.
