Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday held a crucial bilateral meeting with Myanmar’s leader, Senior Gen. Min Aung Hlaing, who is on a rare foreign trip to the Thai capital to attend a regional summit with a civil war at home and as the country grapples with the aftermath of a devastating earthquake last week that left over 3,000 people dead.
Sharing on X photos of his meeting with the leader of Myanmar’s military government on the sidelines of a summit of the seven Bay of Bengal countries, Modi expressed his condolences over the loss of life and damage to property from the recent quake. “India is doing whatever is possible to assist our sisters and brothers of Myanmar in this critical time,” he said.
