ADB says President Masatsugu Asakawa to step down next year

The Asian Development Bank announced on Monday that its president, Masatsugu Asakawa, is planning to step down. The decision will become effective on February 23, 2025, according to the ADB statement.

The former bureaucrat in Japan’s finance ministry has been the president of the Manila-based multilateral lender since January 2020, shepherding the ADB through the economic crisis wrought by the COVID-19 pandemic.
