China’s defense chief appears in public amid reports of graft probe

Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun appeared Thursday to meet with delegates from Africa, according to the government, marking the first announcement of official duties since reports of a corruption investigation targeting him surfaced more than a week ago.

Dong met with the heads of military delegations who came to Shanghai to attend a security seminar concerning the Gulf of Guinea, the Defense Ministry said Thursday. The African nations represented include Nigeria and Gabon.
