China’s new J-35 stealth fighter stars at Zhuhai air show

China’s premier aviation exhibition opened Tuesday in the southern city of Zhuhai, giving the audience a glimpse of the country’s newest stealth fighter jet.

The J-35 flew briefly at the China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition, climbing into a smog-filled sky with its twin engines blazing. When it enters service, the jet will make China the second country after its archrival the U.S. to be equipped with two stealth fighters, joining the J-20 deployed since 2017. American forces fly Lockheed Martin’s F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II.
