Philippines demands China pay $1m over South China Sea clash in June

The head of the Philippine military on Thursday said the country is demanding China pay 60 million pesos ($1 million) in reparations for property that was damaged when China Coast Guard personnel boarded a Philippine inflatable craft in June.

Romeo Brawner, chief of staff of the Philippine Armed Forces, told reporters in a briefing that the demand will cover damages to a boat and communications equipment.
