Taiwan’s government on Friday pledged to spend a total of 88 billion New Taiwan dollars ($2.6 billion) to support businesses in the wake of tariffs announced by U.S. President Donald Trump.
Premier Cho Jung-tai announced that NT$70 billion will be allocated to support industries while another NT$18 billion will go toward cushioning the blow to agriculture. “The president specifically instructed [the government] to provide the greatest support to industry and stabilize the economic situation, which is the most important task at present,” Cho told reporters, alongside cabinet members.
