U.S. and South Korea to hold nuclear response drill this summer

The U.S. and South Korea discussed their strategy against North Korean nuclear threats on Monday, agreeing to stage this summer a tabletop exercise simulating their response to a nuclear attack.

The bilateral Nuclear Consultative Group finalized its guidelines outlining the countries’ response to nuclear threats from North Korea.

The document “provides principles and procedures for the Alliance to maintain and strengthen the credible and effective nuclear deterrence policy and posture,” according to a joint statement from the meeting.
