USS John L. Canley Arrives in Vanuatu for Pacific Partnership 2025

John Thomas November 18, 2025 2 minutes read

During the mission stop, U.S. service members will work alongside Palauan government officials, medical professionals, engineers and community leaders to conduct medical exchanges, disaster management workshops, engineering projects and host nation outreach events.

“Pacific Partnership continues to strengthen the long-standing friendship between the United States, Vanuatu, and our regional partners,” said Capt. Mark B. Stefanik, Pacific Partnership 2025 mission commander. “Working shoulder-to-shoulder with our Vanuatu partners enhances disaster response capacity and reaffirms our shared commitment to a resilient and free Indo-Pacific.”

Pacific Partnership is focused on collective capacity building, which has evolved from the  previous approach centered on providing direct care. Any direct care provided will be shoulder-to-shoulder with the host and partner nations to share knowledge and skills that are enduring and  applicable well after the mission.

The PP25 mission includes stops in the Federated States of Micronesia, Palau, Papua New  Guinea, Samoa, and Vanuatu. Fly-in stops for PP25 will include Fiji, the Philippines, and Tonga.  We look forward to deepening our partnerships and cooperation with each of these nations.

Now in its 21st iteration, Pacific Partnership is the largest annual multinational humanitarian assistance and disaster relief preparedness mission in the Indo-Pacific. Each year, the mission teams work alongside host and partner nations to improve disaster response capacity, strengthen relationships, and foster enduring friendships.
